The Alabama Baptist Royal Ambassador/Challenger State Basketball Tournament was held Feb. 4-5 in Tuscaloosa. Thirty four teams played in five church gyms across Tuscaloosa: Alberta Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, Chapel Hill Baptist Church, Circlewood Baptist Church and South Highland Baptist Church.
Steve Stephens, RA and Challenger consultant for the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions, said the tournament was well played and the players displayed exemplary sportsmanship.
The first- and second-place winners in each age group were as follows:
Crusader – First place, First Baptist Church, Clanton; second place, First Baptist Church, Gadsden.
Younger Challengers – First Place, First Baptist Church, Center Point/CrossPoint Baptist Church, Birmingham; second place, Calvary Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa.
Senior High – First place, Tillman’s Corner Baptist Church, Mobile; second place, First Baptist Church, Clanton.
