Family Status: Widowed after 62 years of marriage to James; three daughters, Sandra, Brenda and Donna; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild
Doris Hudson’s husband was a pastor for 42 years, and she did whatever she could to help his church. She has taught Sunday School classes, helped with Woman’s Missionary Union and worked with a women’s prayer group.
Q: How did you come to know the Lord?
A: I was brought up in a Christian home. When I was 13, a neighbor of mine talked to me about being a Christian — actually committing my life to God — and that very night, I made a decision to follow Him.
Q: What does ministry demand?
A: Of course, it took very much of our time, but we were glad to do it. We tried to make God the center of our lives, so it never felt like a sacrifice. We tried to support all phases of God’s work and tried to encourage our
membership to stay committed to God.
Q: How has ministry been a blessing over the years?
A: We’ve seen many people come to know the Lord over these years; I feel we’ve been overly blessed with meeting some people who were encouraging to us.
Q: How do you plan to stay involved in ministry in the future?
A: I plan to be involved in all the things I’m able to do. I substitute teach for Sunday School; I’m involved in the ladies’ prayer group; I sing in the choir still.
Q: What difference has Christ made in your life?
A: He’s just made all the difference in the world; even as a teenager, I had a desire to live for Him and to serve Him.
