While sharing testimonies of painful life lessons and experiences during its concerts, the Christian rock group Superchick desires to point teenage girls to Christ as their ultimate source of love, hope and trust.
As lead singer Tricia Brock encourages teenage girls to take a bold stand for Christ, along with making positive choices and committing to purity, young girls and their parents are being impacted by both the music and message.
“We really want our songs to make teenagers think about their life, their choices and the consequences of their actions,” Brock said. “I love when fathers and their daughters attend our concerts together. After a recent concert, a dad came up and shared that our songs about purity had really impacted his daughter to set standards and boundaries for dating. It’s so encouraging to hear that teenagers are responding by making positive life choices while drawing closer to Christ and His Word.
“It’s really inspiring when families bring their non-Christian friends to our concerts. To see them connect with the songs are the most amazing moments for me. I love interacting with people after each show and hearing how the songs are impacting them.”
More than having a passion for music, the group has a calling to touch lives.
Its concerts benefit missions organizations, such as Compassion International, a child-sponsorship organization dedicated to meeting the physical and spiritual needs of children living in poverty around the world. Brock recently had the opportunity to travel to Uganda with Compassion International and witnessed the impact of these sponsorships.
“Our concert is never just a concert — it’s part of a greater cause,” Brock said.
When Brock isn’t performing with the Grammy-nominated group, she often leads worship for churches around the country. This summer, she released her first solo worship album, “The Road.”
While recording songs for the album, Brock suffered a miscarriage and took some time away from the project to reflect and regroup. As God provided hope, strength and comfort during this time, Brock was inspired to return to the recording studio with a renewed purpose — to encourage others to worship God during every season.
“I can honestly say that I wrestled with God during that time and questioned Him,” Brock said.
“But as God provided healing through the songs that were written months earlier, I was reminded about His great love and care for each of His children, just like a Shepherd caring for each one of His sheep and making sure one doesn’t go astray.
“I think we so often forget that we daily need to take our problems to God and lay them down at His feet. As the Lord provided comfort and drew me closer to his Word each day, I was once again reminded of His faithfulness. “It has been a really up-and-down couple of years, and I felt like this was my way of saying that we have to choose to worship God when our circumstances aren’t what we want, when things don’t make sense and it seems like prayers aren’t being answered. God is worthy to be worshiped even when we’re weak, tired and feel like we’re at the end of our rope. I want to encourage others to keep pressing on and cling to God’s truths in difficult times. Because of God’s faithfulness and grace during those times, we can look back and realize how great, loving and compassionate He is.”
