The American teacher was visiting with a student and his family in a mountain village when the wind began to blow, and the thunder started to roll.
She stood on the front stoop of the small dwelling and marveled at the power of God as she watched a brilliant display of lightning.
When the rain began, she went inside. Then came the hail that seemed to last forever. She sat silently and prayed for the family.
Eventually the storm subsided, and they all ate supper by candlelight. Early the next morning, they ventured outside to survey the damage that they assumed would be considerable.
To their amazement, their crops had survived unscathed. All around them stalks of wheat were bowed and broken, and vegetables were beaten and splattered.
But God had miraculously protected the crops at that home.
Her student asked her why, and she was able to tell him about prayer, and the power of Almighty God.
