In April, Birmingham’s Baptist Medical Center Montclair was named to the list of networked UnitedHealth Premium Cardiac Specialty Centers.
It is Alabama’s only hospital on the list. Montclair was also one of 132 hospitals in 30 states named to the list of premium network hospitals for heart disease treatment.
To make the list, Montclair’s cardiology program faced a comprehensive review process.
UnitedHealth used nationally recognized standards of care to determine the highest performing cardiac facilities. Those students were created by the American College of Cardiology, Society of Thoracic Surgeons and North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology and were combined with clinical data.
The list of Premium Network providers for cardiac care expands UnitedHealth’s long-established Centers of Excellence programs for complex health conditions.
