Richard H. Anderson, pastor of New Salem Baptist Church, Owens Cross Roads, died Oct. 14. He was 75.
Anderson retired as Criminal Investigation Division commander with the Huntsville Police Department after more than 37 years of service.
He served as pastor of New Salem Baptist for more than 35 years.
The church went through numerous major facility improvements under his leadership, including the completion of the family life center in October 2010.
In addition to Anderson’s pastorate, he preached at many revivals.
Anderson is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Worley Anderson; two daughters; two sons; and five grandchildren. (TAB)
