Mosaic Music/CLG Distribution
Mosaic, five musicians who originally met at Belmont College in Nashville and who recorded their first album as a Christmas gift to their parents, has certainly enjoyed a meteoric rise since that inauspicious beginning.
And why not? Their harmonies have been characterized as “sublime,” and their first CD was being compared with the likes of Alison Krauss and Selah even before its release.
They have been touring constantly since that first album of Christmas songs, the perfect vehicle to hone their signature harmonies and build their songwriting skills. It doesn’t hurt that their lyrics draw heavily from God’s Word. You’re going to like these guys.
“One,” the album’s opening song, is a toe-tapping, harmony-rich joy of a song, taken directly from Ephesians 4:4–6. “Japheth Song,” beautifully layered and country-flavored, literally brought me to my knees as it pointed out my own failure to forgive the real or imagined slights of my family members. “Love Will Never Fail” is a fresh look at 1 Corinthians 13. “Fear the Lord” is a lush, jazz-infused admonition to truly understand the fear of God. I’d love to go on, but trust me — there’s not a bad song on the CD.
