Judith de Wilde. Bloomington, Ind.: AuthorHouse, 2010. 72 pp. (Large Paperback).
Judith de Wilde penned this book to capture the thoughts and feelings that followed the death of her husband. The several dozen beautifully evocative poems cover the gamut of emotions experienced by a widow — grief, despair, uncertainty, moments of hope and the ever-present loneliness that follows the death of a spouse. The author, a gifted photographer, illustrated the poems with her own work.
Although it may be difficult for one who has not experienced widowhood to relate, the author’s heartfelt poems resonate with one who has. This small book would be a treasured gift for the newly widowed person who would find comfort in knowing that she is not alone in her experience, and hope in knowing Who holds the future.
