Baptist communicator Lloyd Householder dies

 

NASHVILLE — Lloyd Householder, longtime employee of the Sunday School Board of the Southern Baptist Convention (now LifeWay Christian Resources), died Jan. 30. 

He was 82.

Householder was named director of the board’s office of communication in 1977 and was promoted to assistant vice president for the office of communications in 1987. 

He came to the board in 1960 as director of church-related vocation guidance and became manager of the church training department in 1968. 

He retired in 1992.

A native of Cleveland, Tenn., Householder earned a B.A. degree from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn., and M.Div., M.R.E. and D.Ed. degrees from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville.

He also was active in and served on the board of the Baptist World Alliance for many years.
