Junior Hill. Hartselle: JHI Publishers, 2011. 159 pp. (Paperback).
Junior Hill may well be the best known and most loved of all contemporary evangelists in Alabama, in great demand as a preacher both in the state and elsewhere. This book is an illustration of what makes Hill so sought after. “At Wit’s End” is a book of encouragement for those who may be facing difficulties in their lives — all, according to the author, who have ever felt “perplexed, confused, cast down, and at wit’s end.”
The book is a collection of chapters dealing with different issues Christians face, such as having faith whether the Lord answers our prayers the way we hoped or not, assurance of God’s forgiveness of our sins and trusting in God’s timing. Hill buttresses his words with Scripture and uses stories, many of them personal, to make the meaning come alive to the reader. Hill’s trademark humor threads throughout the book, especially in the tongue-in-cheek description of “The Blow Up Church” in the last chapter.
If you are one of the many fans of Junior Hill (and who isn’t?), you will want to add this volume to your collection.
