Walk Strong, Look Up: The Most Powerful Exercise for your Body and Soul

Chantel Hobbs. Grand Rapids, Mich.: Revell, 2011. 233 pp. (Paperback).

Chantel Hobbs has written several books on the subject of maintaining a healthy weight through diet and exercise; “Walk Strong, Look Up” will not disappoint her fans. After a lengthy introduction, part motivational coaching, part practical tips, Hobbs launches into a fitness/weight loss plan designed around a four-week walking regimen that includes detailed coaching from Hobbs and a hefty dose of communion with God through prayer, praise and meditation.

The plan is a simple start-slow-and-build routine that takes the non-exerciser to a healthy level of walking in four weeks. Embedded in the instructions are passages to meditate on and ideas to grapple with. The final section of the book addresses eating for weight loss maintenance, exercises for building muscle and motivation to continue beyond the initial four weeks.
