It is hard to get more yuletide than The Oak Ridge Boys keeping you company on Christmas eve radio. It is hard to smile any bigger than Christmas cookies waiting on you at Grandma’s. It is hard to find a better combination.
But Spring Hill got close. They just released The Oak Ridge Boys’ millionth record, which happens to be only the group’s fourth Christmas album. It’s called “Christmas Cookies,” and inside you’ll not only find songs about Christmas cookies, you’ll find recipes for them.
A little less than half of these songs can be called Christmas classics, but at least they’re classics never before attempted by the Boys.
The rest could easily become classics in their own right if given enough time — if The Oak Ridge Boys sing it, then that’s almost a rule.
It might be cliché but this really would make a great gift.
