As numerous hurricanes swept past us during this storm season we were spared major damage, other than a good bit of rain. Palo Verde, Dominican Republic, the village that we helped during their evacuation last year, had to be evacuated again, but the people were quickly returned to their village.
We appreciate your prayers and concerns for us during that time. And we have prayed for those of you who suffered damages and loss from the hurricanes that have hit the United States.
A person working with one of our rural teams, Fernandos Abellas, suffered the loss of his mother, who died in September.
The Abellas were able to be with her for a time before she went to be with the Lord. The Abellas have now returned to their work in Barahona.
Please pray for them as they continue to adjust to their loss. Pray they will be able to focus on their work and yet celebrate his mother’s life and her new life in heaven with Jesus, in spite of the sadness that it causes for those who remain on earth for a while longer.
We are in the United States Oct. 7 through Nov. 3. We hope to get to see many of you while we are there. We are looking forward to spending time with our families and friends.
When our visit in the United States concludes we will be on our way to Puebla, Mexico, to begin our new assignment.
For five years now many of you have been committed prayer partners for the Dominicans in rural Dominican Republic.
As we leave we would appreciate your continuing to be part of the team here through prayer support.
Please continue your prayers for the indigenous groups of Mexico.
