Radio Hits Volume (Homeland)

If there was an award for a variety on one compilation CD, the winner would undoubtedly be Homeland’s Volume 28. You’ll find a little bit of everything on this compilation — old songs, new songs, old groups, new groups, comedy, instrumentals, studio cuts, live cuts and on and on.

The debut single release of Legacy Five, “I Stand Redeemed,” is the first song on this compilation and more than likely, it’s going to find a home on nearly every station’s playlist — as will the new single from the Bishops, “He Said It All.” This is one of the Bishops’ best-ever singles, so look for a real slug-fest at the top of the charts before too long. Ivan Parker and Walt Mills pick up the tempo with “You Gotta Know” and “God Will Roll The Waters Back,” respectively. The Homeland Quartet is next with “I Just Can’t Make It By Myself,” and New Harmony has a real winner with “Take Me Home” (there’s both a studio cut and a live version of this Jean Canter song). The Rick Webb Trio also has a song that merits much attention, “Reach Around The World.”

Two master musicians also have single releases on this Homeland compilation. Roger Bennett presents a tender medley of “Jesus Loves Me” and “Jesus Love The Little Children” while Kevin Williams presents his version of the classic “Through It All.”

Looking for some lighter moments? George Younce, Glen Payne, Rex Nelson and Dennis Swanberg share about 16 minutes of laughter with the listener.

Rounding out this CD are seven songs from days gone by. It’s a walk through the recording library as you hear from the Cathedrals, Teddy Huffam & The Gems, Blue Ridge Quartet, Inspirations, Florida Boys, Rusty Goodman and Wendy Bagwell & the Sunliters.
