Want to know God?

Want to know God?

Enon Baptist Church, Morris

One of the great questions of life is, “Do you know God?” There are many who want to but simply do not know how. They might try to reform, join a church, turn over a new leaf, quit bad habits or many other things. These are commendable but will not help you to know God. These things are called self-righteousness. All these things are unacceptable to God. He has, however, revealed His plan so that you can know Him.

His plan is simplistic. It is as simple as A, B, C.

The A stands for Admit. You must admit you are a sinner in need of a Savior. If you were drowning you would cry out for help. A person without Jesus is spiritually drowning and Jesus is your only means of help.

The B stands for Believe. You must believe that Jesus, who is God in the flesh, is the only one able to save. The Bible says in Acts 4:12, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Jesus says in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

The C stands for Confess. The Bible states in Romans 10:9, “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” If you will make this heart-based confession, you have the authority from Scripture that you will know God.

Not only do you notice that the plan is simplistic, but notice the scope of the plan. The most familiar passage of Scripture is John 3:16. It states, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Notice the word “world.” He is not talking about rocks and trees but about humanity. Put your name there and its meaning is clear. Another word is “whoever.” This means a person. This means you. If you are one of the whosoevers, call upon Him and experience the joy of knowing God.
