Unconditional

Unconditional

Eva Marie Everson. Nashville, Tenn.: B&H Publishing Group, 2012. 228 pp. (Paperback).

While the tradition has been to base movies on books, this book turns the tables: it is a book based on a movie. “Unconditional” is the story of a young woman who is suddenly widowed and is unable to come to terms with her husband’s death. Left severely depressed, she decides to go to the place where he was killed and take her own life; instead of dying, though, she is caught up in a drama that ultimately gives her a reason to live. Maybe a little trite, but there are enough surprises here to keep the reader engaged in the story.

The book and the movie are “inspired by true events.” The LifeWay movie had a limited release in early fall of 2012 and a DVD release is in the works. No date has been announced.

Readers of Christian fiction will probably recognize the name of the author. Eva Marie Everson has been writing Christian fiction for some time, with several well-written books to her credit. This one is no different — a good read with a solid message.
