Southern Baptist DR teams assist flooded Midwest

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Southern Baptist Disaster Relief teams in three state conventions are involved in ministry efforts following major Midwest flooding that has claimed four lives. Heavy mid-April rainfall has kept rivers in Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Indiana and Michigan in flood stage, according to the National Weather Service. More rain and snow were expected at press time, putting North Dakota and other states at risk.

The Baptist Convention of Michigan deployed a feeding unit to Anchor Baptist Church, Grand Rapids, and were preparing 200 meals a day at press time. Missouri Baptist Convention teams are involved in mud-out work in De Soto, Mo. Illinois Southern Baptists, meanwhile, set up a feeding unit at Woodland Baptist Church, Peoria, and were preparing 1,000 meals a day at press time.
