Golden Gate’s accreditation reaffirmed

MILL VALLEY, Calif. — The Association of Theological Schools (ATS) has reaffirmed fully accredited status to Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, Calif. The Commission on Accrediting of the ATS informed Golden Gate Seminary officials of its decision earlier this summer.

During a visit by the commission in 2001, committee members expressed concern that the seminary had sustained losses in its operating budget for several years. The recent affirmation from ATS commended the seminary “on its solid and significant progress on areas and concerns identified in past visits.”

“The accreditation affirmation received from the Association of Theological Schools is affirmation of the ability of our trustees, faculty, staff and students to work together as a team in addressing a number of critical issues surfaced in our last visit by our accrediting agencies,” seminary President William O. (Bill) Crews said.

The commission also notified the seminary that the Rocky Mountain Campus in Centennial, Colo., is being considered for possibly
authorizing the full master of divinity and master of arts in theological studies degrees. Presently, the RMC is authorized to offer only two-thirds of these degree programs onsite.
