From the beginning of time man has sought the answer to the question, “What is the purpose or meaning of life?” Man unfortunately has sought the answer in philosophy, science and religion. However, the answer can only be found in God.
The reason man exists is solely for the glory of God. You were created for God’s glory. This is a great truth, but at the same time it presents us with a major dilemma. We have not brought glory to God. Instead we have sinned greatly. The Bible says “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23). Most of us believe we are basically good people. Right? Wrong. Think of all the ways we sin against God: lying, stealing, coveting and failure to love God are just a few.
“For the wages of sin is death” (Rom. 6:23). We deserve death, which is separation from God in a place called hell. As guilty sinners before a holy God, we are desperate for a mediator. The good news is that we have a mediator in Jesus Christ.
The Bible teaches that God sent His only Son to die on the cross for sinners. Jesus is the only One who could satisfy the wrath of God the Father because He alone is the spotless Lamb.
The Bible says He who knew no sin became sin for us. Jesus took our sin on Himself and bore the penalty of the wrath of God on the cross. He has defeated sin, paid the penalty and satisfied the justice of God. Only now can God justify sinners.
So what must we do then to be right with God? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Recognize you are a sinner who stands condemned before God (John 3:17). Confess your sins to God (Rom. 10:9–10). Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who alone can take away your sin (Acts 4:12). Place your faith in Jesus and follow Him (John 3:16).
If any man is in Christ, he is now a new creature. The old things have passed away and all things have become new.
Please, I beg of you from the bottom of my heart, trust not in religion, ritual or race, but trust only in Jesus Christ. He alone is Savior. To God be the glory forever.
