Religious groups offer health care to Iraqi children

NEW YORK CITY — A religious humanitarian organization has started a campaign to provide health care for Iraqi children. Church World Service, the humanitarian assistance agency supported by Orthodox, Anglican and other Protestant churches, in conjunction with the National Council of Churches, started a new campaign in late December to raise $1 million that will purchase antibiotics, anesthesia and other medical supplies for children’s health care.

The groups claim that since 1980 half a million children have died due to war, sanctions and dwindling resources.

Relief supplies purchased with funds will be delivered to pediatric hospitals run by international relief organizations.
