Resuscitate: Acoustic Sessions
Centricity Music

Remedy Drive just released a fully acoustic version of its 2012 album “Resuscitate,” which garnered a No. 1 hit for five weeks with “Resuscitate Me” and a No. 9 hit on Billboard’s Rock Chart with “Make It Bright.”

Some may wonder how the hard- rock energy so out front in the original record translates to piano, strings, drums, bass and acoustic guitars. I have to say, to my ears, their music has more impact in its original hard rock/grunge format, but perhaps that’s just because I heard it that way first. The original record had several impressive songs done with simple, keys-based arrangements, so Remedy Drive certainly has the chops to create a credible acoustic record.

This is not to say that the fire of the original recording is extinguished in this acoustic version. David Zach’s vocals on their hit “Resuscitate Me” is still raw and in your face. The guitars, even sans electric distortion, are still edgy and biting.

If you’ve seen these guys live, you know the energy they put into a live performance. I can’t get the image of Zach jumping around wildly among the bassoons and cellos out of my head. Disturbing.
