WASHINGTON — Evangelist Billy Graham was presented with an honorary knighthood at the British Embassy Dec. 6 in honor of his worldwide influence on religious life.
British Ambassador Sir Christopher Meyer said Graham has conducted more missions in Britain than in any other country outside the United States since his first visit in 1946 when he was associated with Youth for Christ.
Graham expressed his thanks for the honor. “I want to convey to her majesty, the queen, my deepest gratitude for the high honor she has graciously bestowed upon me,” he said. “I accept with humility and unworthiness.”
