I have been wondering lately what has happened to the spiritual discernment of Christians. When Harry Potter came on the scene, did we leave every lesson taught to us, from the Bible, at the back door? I am confused — at what point did God tell us that witchcraft was okay? I mean, when did God change? As far as I know, He didn’t change, but His people did. We are the ones who started allowing the world to influence us and not us influencing the world. I am so tired of hearing “Christians” say that there is nothing wrong with Harry Potter. Hello! When witchcraft is openly flaunted as it is in this book, and when the world becomes consumed with a book as the world has with this one, then “Christians” should have warning bells going off everywhere. Oh! I forgot, we no longer ring our warning bells. We no longer live in a world where God’s absolute truths are accepted because His people no longer accept His absolute truths. Here is one absolute truth taken directly from the Bible: Deut. 18:9–14 tells us that God says not to have anything to do with witchcraft, and in Ex. 22:18, God told the people to put sorcerers to death. What part of this is unclear to Christians? How much longer, sleeping church, will you slumber, while the world rips Jesus’ reputation and heart to shreds?
