What Matters Most
Word Artisan

It has been close to four years since Wes King released his last album. Following the birth of his twin sons, King’s priorities shifted from recording and touring to fatherhood. As his sons continue to grow, King felt that there are certain values that he wants to pass along to his progenies. The result is a Proverbs-esque collection of songs titled “What Matters Most.”

This album is more mature and introspective than King’s previous projects, but it still captures the essence of King that fans have come to expect from the guitar-strapped artist.

The album begins with the compelling “Spin You Round,” a song that encourages the listener to be captivated by wonder. The title track, co-written by King and Michael W. Smith, emphasizes the supremacy of love. “There Is a God” is King’s plea for his sons to embrace faith in God.

“What Matters Most” is a thought-provoking album on which King very candidly expresses the value of faith, family and community. It is about establishing values in the context of faith. It is about building relationships with your family. It is about participating in the community of Christ.

“What Matters Most” marks a great maturation in the life and music of a very talented and thoughtful Wes King.
