WHEATON, Ill. — The ninth book in the “Left Behind” series, “Desecration” by Jerry Jenkins and Tim Lahaye, was the top-selling adult hardcover fiction book of 2001, according to “Publisher’s Weekly.”
Another Christian book, Bruce Wilkinson’s “The Prayer of Jabez,” topped the adult hardcover nonfiction list for the year. It’s the first time Christian books have held the top spots on both the fiction and nonfiction charts.
“Desecration” was not released until Oct. 30 of 2001, and so it enjoyed only two full months of sales in the calendar year. The book had the highest first printing of any hardcover novel in 2001 at 2.97 million, and its total sales in 2001 were 2.9 million.
