Though Plus One received a great deal of acclaim for its debut album “The Promise,” many thought the band was simply an industry-generated boy band modeled after mainstream pop acts such as N’Sync and the Backstreet Boys. “The Promise” was lyrically ambiguous and lacked a certain energy characteristic of the genre’s most popular acts. The band’s latest project, “Obvious,” makes a very clear statement regarding the group’s growth in terms of their musicianship and sense of mission.

“Camouflage,” the album’s first track, is an adrenaline-packed anthem revealing the desire to be bold in sharing one’s faith. Several tracks on the album, such as “Under the Influence” and “Start to Fly,” fuse driving guitars and catchy dance beats with lyrical themes of God’s sovereignty. “Obvious” also includes several ballads that offer expressions of surrender to God.

“Obvious” is pure Plus One. The members of the band contributed not only their ever-maturing vocal harmonies to the project but also rendered their services in writing, recording, and producing parts of the album. The result is a high-energy, attention-grabbing project focused on the band’s bold commitment to faith in Christ.
