WASHINGTON — A survey of young adults’ views on politics and civic life shows that a majority of youth who are religiously active believe voting is important.
Sixty-four percent of young people who regularly attend worship services said voting is extremely or very important, compared to 37 percent of those who do not attend services.
The survey, released March 4, looked at how young people feel about government, their communities, and their own civic and political involvement. It was commissioned by the Center for Information & Research on Civic Learning & Engagement (CIRCLE), along with other organizations.
The survey found young people who attend religious services have a more positive view of government. Seventy percent said they trust the government to do what is right for the country.
