Fans of Casting Crowns will welcome their new project, an acoustic remake of some of their favorite songs, along with a couple of new songs, “Delivered” and “Only You Can Satisfy,” done in the same acoustic-only format. Inspiration for the new CD came from the well-received acoustic medley portion of their “Come To The Well” tour.

While string arrangements might seem a little foreign as the musical vehicle for some of the old Casting Crowns favorites, I have to say the format works well. If there is a downside, it’s that lead singer/songwriter Mark Hall’s sometime awkward lyrics are a little more out front, although two decades of hits, including three Grammy Awards, 14 Dove Awards and two American Music Awards have answered any questions about Hall’s songwriting skills.

Their “Acoustic Sessions” tour includes Alabama. It already found its way to Tuscaloosa and will reach Huntsville on Oct. 25. That’s quite an honor, considering there are only 18 stops on the tour. If at all possible, get out and see this powerhouse Christian band live.
