Whisnants

Anthem of Praise
Traditional/UIA

Has anyone noticed the progress this group has made in the last couple of years? After being relatively unknown, the Whisnants are suddenly appearing on major concerts everywhere and their songs have become back-to-back chart climbers. But hold on — things are not always as they seem. You see, the Whisnants have been working in southern gospel music for quite some time, quietly building a ministry that has been favorably received on a national scale during the past 24 months. “Anthem of Praise” is the next step in that on-going process, and it’s quite a step.

Jeff and Susan Whisnant, along with newcomer Aaron Hise, have teamed up with a “who’s who” cast of musicians, producers, arrangers and engineers to put together “Anthem of Praise,” and the resulting 11 songs provide quite a bit of listening enjoyment. Between “As Faithful As You” and “Under Grace,” you’ll find nine additional songs that are helping to cast the Whisnants’ future in southern gospel music. Take a few moments and truly listen to “After the Cross Came Down,” “What You Took from Me” (a great twist on a familiar thought), “Land of the Free,” “The Next Time that You See Me” (yes, that’s the one you’re thinking of from the past) and “I’ll Tell Jesus.”

If you’ve not had the pleasure of enjoying the Whisnants, take the opportunity to get to know these North Carolina folks through “Anthem of Praise.”
