Cuba Anglican churches may rejoin U.S. group

HAVANA, Cuba — Members of Anglican churches in Cuba are trying to rejoin the Episcopal Church of the United States (ECUSA) after three decades of separation from the American body. Episcopal News Service reports that the issue of rejoining the ECUSA, which Cuban churches broke away from in 1967, was unanimously supported during a meeting of the Cuban diocesan synod in February, even after intense debate. If approved, the Cuban synod would join the ECUSA as a constituent diocese, or form a new Episcopal province with churches in Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
