For singer/songwriter Tim Timmons, “Cast My Cares” is more than just the title of his debut album. It is a reminder for believers to give their worries, fears and anxieties over to the Lord and trust Him to sustain them.
After battling an incurable cancer for more than a decade, Timmons shares his own personal struggles as he performs concerts around the country in hopes of encouraging audiences to rely on Christ as their source of stability and strength during life’s storms.
“My purpose in this season is to inspire believers in Jesus to become followers of Jesus through my story,” Timmons said.
“Everyone has worries and insecurities, but God is big enough to cast our cares upon Him. When people ask me what I do, I generally tell them that I write songs to help people pray to Jesus.”
Timmons hopes these songs will inspire people to draw closer to Jesus in the midst of trials.
“The album is about inviting believers into a deeper walk and relationship with Christ,” Timmons said. “The first single on the album is a song called ‘Starts With Me.’ I was reading an article about a young preacher who came up to an older preacher and asked how to start a revival in his town. The older pastor takes a piece of chalk and gets down on his hands and knees. He draws a large circle on the floor (around the man) and tells the young preacher, ‘The revival starts in you.’”
“This really struck me, because I feel like I’ve spent my whole life asking Jesus to come along with my agenda. Now I’m asking Christ to show me His plans for the day.
Called to represent
“Whatever the day involves, whether it’s joy or sorrow, I want to be in the presence of God. We are called to represent Him and reflect His love to others, wherever He leads us each day.
“The same power that raised Christ from the dead is alive in me, and I want to tell people about it. As we take time to tell others how Christ is working in our own life, that’s what will point others to Him. Our story changes everything, and the revival starts in us.”
