By sharing their own struggles and life experiences during concerts, Christian rock band Among the Thirsty wants to help students and young adults searching for significance realize their value, purpose and identity in Christ.
Their debut album, “Who You Say I Am,” offers songs about personal reflection, learning to surrender and Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.
“The record is based on identity and we want to help people understand that their identity should not be tied to something that can be taken away,” lead vocalist and guitarist Ryan Daniel said. “A lot of people relate their identity to a relationship, position, status or possession. When those things get stripped away it can lead to some pretty rough patches in your life and painful experiences.
“We want people to realize that their identity should be found in Christ alone and what He says about you. When you learn that truth and apply it to your life, you can start making powerful changes.”
Clinging to Christ
After persevering through a difficult season which inspired the songs on the new album, Daniel now shares messages with audiences about the importance of clinging to Christ during life’s storms.
While performing concerts around the country, the group enjoys meeting with people and discussing what God is doing in their lives.
Daniel said, “I feel like God is most glorified when you can stand strong in spite of the storms you’re battling.
“When you can come out of the experience and share the real struggles that you have, you are ministering to other people facing similar issues. When we share our testimonies and the hard details of our lives, that’s where the magic happens.”
