Union Motley Baptist Church, Wadley, celebrated its 125th anniversary and annual homecoming in a joint service June 5.
During the 10 a.m. service Pastor John Roberts brought the message and Sonja Adams, Alabama Baptist Historical Commission representative, presented a plaque to the Carey Baptist Association church honoring its years of dedicated service. Special music that morning was performed by the Godin family, a Phenix City-based family of 10 children who all play multiple instruments in bluegrass and southern gospel styles.
A special aspect of the day, according to church secretary Sheila Bice, was the replica of Union Motley Baptist building on display for participants. The replica was built by church member Wayne Cotney. (Compiled by the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission and TAB)
