Muslim herdsmen kill 12 Nigerian Christians

GIDAN WAYA, Nigeria — Muslim Fulani herdsmen killed at least 12 Christians in Nigeria in late November in what Christian leaders call a campaign of ethnic and religious cleansing.

Area resident Joshua Aku said the attacks began in Pasakori on the evening of Nov. 23, when herdsmen killed the Pasakori village head, Ayuba Gwafan, in an armed assault that lasted an hour.

The heavily armed herdsmen then killed six other Christians on the Gidan Waya-Kagoro highway, Aku said. The herdsmen returned Nov. 25 to attack Mile One village on the outskirts of Gidan Waya and started killing villagers and destroying their houses. At least five Christians were killed in this attack.
