Five Points Baptist minister of music dies
Stephen “Steve” Dean, minister of music for Five Points Baptist Church, Sylacauga, died March 6. He was 52.
A native of Sylacauga, Dean held a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Montevallo and a master’s degree in Christian education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
In addition to Five Points Baptist, Dean served the following churches throughout his ministry: Mount Sharon Baptist Church, Childersburg; Brown’s Chapel Baptist Church, Sylacauga; First Baptist Church, Oak Grove, in Sylacauga; First Baptist Church, Roanoke; and Community LIFE Church, Roanoke. He also served for a stint in Mississippi at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Bogue Chitto. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Karen, and one daughter. (TAB)
