Former Coosa River DOM James William Casady dies at 88

James William Casaday, former director of missions (DOM) for Coosa River Baptist Association, died March 1. He was 88.

A native of Notasulga he earned degrees from Samford University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. 

In his 65 years of ministry he served as pastor of 12 churches and served 14 years as Coosa River Association DOM. At the time of his death, he was serving as pastor of Cartersville Baptist Church, Childersburg, and as a volunteer chaplain for the Childersburg community work center.

Randy Hagan, associational mission strategist for Coosa River Association, called him “a gentleman and humble servant of the Lord.”

“He believed in missions, and under his leadership the churches he pastored gave generously to missions,” Hagan said. “He mentored many and was loved by all who knew him.”

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann; sons, Bill and Allen; daughter, Cindy; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. (TAB)
