The Alabama-based Christian rock band Rush of Fools is on a mission — to connect students and young adults around the country with the life-changing love of Christ. This Dove Award-winning group is made up of five guys, and their name derives from 1 Corinthians 1:26–31.
Despite a busy schedule performing concerts, the band remains dedicated to serving the local church. Guitarist and vocalist Kevin Huguley serves as worship pastor at Christ City Church, Birmingham.
Ministering to teenagers is especially important to the band, and during the summer they lead worship for LifeWay’s Centrifuge and Student Life camps.
Wherever Rush of Fools performs, their desire is to bring people into a closer relationship with God.
“Even though we are a rock band, we try to write songs that are more reflective to drive home the gospel message,” Huguley said. “We will never shy away from the fact that Jesus is the hero of the story.
“A mom came up to us after a concert, with tears in her eyes, and told us that her son and daughter got saved because of the lyrics of the song, ‘Grace Found Me.’ She said that we would never know the impact this song has had on her family and in leading them to the Lord. That is riveting to our souls.”
Their third album, “We Once Were,” is a high-energy mix of songs packed with a powerful message.
“We desperately want to be known for telling the truth about the gospel — because it has changed and wrecked our lives in the best possible way,” Huguley said.
“We have gone through some very difficult events and tough seasons. We take comfort, find beauty and redemption in God using those experiences for His good. Our desire is that God will change hearts through these songs and people will hear the story of God’s sovereignty in each song. In good times and in bad times, we want people to know that God still reigns.”
