Affirming “God’s design that gender identity is determined by biological sex, irrevocably embedded in one’s DNA, from conception to the present,” messengers to the Alabama Baptist State Convention annual meeting in Daphne adopted a resolution that opposes “rewriting, reinterpreting, or altering Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.”

The roughly 650 messengers registered at the time of the vote during the Tuesday afternoon session (Nov. 12) also adopted resolutions celebrating and affirming the Cooperative Program and Disaster Relief volunteers. Two other resolutions focused on appreciation of Eastern Shore Baptist Church for hosting the meeting and the Alabama Supreme Court for its “human life begins at conception” ruling earlier this year.
