Alabamians ready for missions

Sardis Church, Boaz, sent Pastor Mike Goforth and five laypeople to Romania on a missions trip June 14-27.

Shades Mountain Church, Vestavia Hills, sent 85 senior high school students and adult leaders to Pittsburgh, Pa., June 2-12. They helped with renovation and construction as well as held a series of block parties and outreach events. The trip culminated in a musical concert and gospel presentation. The church also sent a building team to Philadelphia, Pa., to construct a worship and education facility for a Haitian Baptist church.

First Church, Montgomery, sent a medical missions team to Turkanaland, Kenya,  June 15-27.

Etowah Association sponsored a construction missions trip to Alton, Mo., June 10-17, and to Nebraska, June 16-24. A similar project will take place in Venezuela Aug. 10-17.

First Church, Gordo, sent 20 people to Madison, W.V., June 9-17 to work with Gateway Chapel. They helped with day camps, worked a booth at the “coat festival” and did puppet shows. The church also sent a team to help build a church in Gillette, Wyo., June 16-24.

Brookwood Church, Birmingham, sent a construction team to Portland, Maine, June 5-16.

Goshen Church (Salem-Troy Assoc.) sent 16 people to Montana to help build a church June 11-16.

Mount Pleasant Church, Enterprise, sponsored a missions trip to New Orleans June 4-10.

First Church, Foley, sent a 13-member team to Kenya, June 4-17 to minister among the Maasai people in the Narok area.

Mountain Brook Church, Birmingham, sent a  missions team to Portland, Maine, June 18-24 to help construct a new building for Suncoast Community Baptist Church.

A group of eight people from three Calhoun Association churches traveled to Bagope, Honduras, in early March to help with construction efforts at the Baptist camp.

First Baptist Church, Madison, is sponsoring a missions trip to Boston this summer.

First Church, Selma, sent a volunteer team to Gatlinburg, Tenn., June 10-17.

First Church, Arab, sent a group to Hilliard, Ohio, June 8-15 to assist Crossroads Community Church with community surveys and evangelistic visits in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Hillview Church, Birmingham, sent a missions team to Muncie, Ind., June 3-10.

Bethel Association sent a building team to Okmulgee, Okla., June 16-23.

First Church, Boaz, sponsored a missions trip to Pablo, Mont., June 14-21 for construction and backyard Bible clubs. A group is going to Mexico July 22-29.

Janet Broadbent, a member of Springhill Baptist Church, Millport, is spending the summer in the Ukraine doing missions work. She is working with orphanages and children’s camps as well as backyard Bible clubs.
