ALCOHOL USE

ALCOHOL USE

I believe Baptist Sunday School lessons should explicitly teach that all Christians should not use alcohol. The use of alcohol by many Christians today is reducing our influence and effectiveness. Bible/Baptist doctrine in the past has always rejected the use of alcohol by Christians. Rather than quote many Scriptures that condemn and stress the terrible consequences of drinking alcohol, let’s just use two examples- if it offends or makes your brother (in Christ) stumble, don’t it; abstain from all appearances of evil. With the destruction alcohol causes, it has got to be classified as both offensive and evil by all Christians. The Bible says: “No drunkard shall enter the kingdom of heaven.” If the drunkard goes to hell, where is the church member going that voted to legalize alcohol and help make the drunkard?
