A new play, “Ann Judson, Missionary,” was presented at Judson College on Nov. 8 and 10. The play was written, arranged and directed by Billie Jean Young, associate professor and artist-in-residence at the college.
It is a dramatic retelling of the life of Ann Hasseltine Judson, America’s first international missionary.
Ann and Adoniram Judson traveled to India in 1812 as newlyweds, having sensed the call of God to take the gospel to a foreign land.
After a disappointing year’s sojourn in India, the couple went to Burma (now known as Myanmar).
The drama, which highlights some of the successes of the mission as well as its trials, is conceived and performed by students at the college named for Ann Judson.
