Parkway Baptist Church, Auburn, started its Sept. 19 service with the same hymn the congregation sang at the church’s dedication service in 1970 — “The Church’s One Foundation.”
And they celebrated the 50th anniversary of a church built on that “one foundation.”
The church turned 50 in 2020 but because of COVID-19, the church kicked off a year of celebration September 2020 and chose to hold their big event this year, Pastor Jeff Redmond said.
A plaque was presented to the church from the Alabama Baptist Historical Commission, and the congregation watched a video featuring highlights from the church’s history. They also had a note burning for their debt and added to a time capsule that will be opened in 2070 at the church’s centennial celebration.
