August CP gifts: Up 14.72 percent from last year

NASHVILLE — Contributions through the Southern Baptist Convention’s (SBC) Cooperative Program (CP) for the month of August totaled $17,968,091.03.

The receipts were 14.72 percent, or $2,305,602.76, ahead of the $15,662,488.27 received in August 2007, according to a news release from SBC Executive Committee President and Chief Executive Officer Morris H. Chapman.

Year-to-date contributions through the CP are 0.88 percent ahead of the same time frame in August 2007. As of Aug. 31, the year-to-date total of $189,458,403.50 for CP Missions is $1,654,261.26 ahead of the $187,804,142.24 received at the same point in 2007.

For the SBC CP Allocation Budget, the year-to-date total of $189,458,403.50 is 103.03 percent of the $183,884,741.60 budgeted to support Southern Baptist ministries globally and across North America.

The SBC operates on an Oct. 1–Sept. 30 fiscal year.

The CP is Southern Baptists’ method of supporting missions and ministry efforts of state conventions and the SBC.
