Tommy Smith, a counselor with Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes & Family Ministries’ Pathways Professional Counseling, recently moved beyond writing professional papers and clinical articles with the publication of his first book. The book, “The War of the Lords: Mystery of the Genesis and the Final Battle of Lower Earth,” was released in August.
Geared toward young teens, “The War of the Lords” was written in response to questions posed by Smith’s 11-year-old grandson Will Phillips regarding literary works by C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien and the “Star Wars” movies. “I told him there was a real star wars and that I would write him the true story,” Smith said. “This book is the result of a year and a half of discussions and writing. I wanted to present to him the real struggle between good and evil going on behind the scenes; to give him a biblical worldview; to show creation instead of evolution; to emphasize salvation by grace and the redemption which is available only through the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ; and to show that God has a sovereign purpose that is never aborted by evil.”
In “The War of the Lords,” Smith tells a dramatic story of wickedness in places beyond the world and how those forces have acted upon the earth from the beginning. The story carries the reader from creation through the end times to a new creation where the faithful enjoy eternity free from violence and fear. At the end of the book, the reader is invited to believe in and learn more about God’s eternal purposes. A study guide, appendices and Scripture references are included. “The War of the Lords” is available at LifeWay Christian Stores and other places books are sold.
