The work of Baptist Health System (BHS) recently got a boost when pediatrician Joseph M. Humphries gave a $1 million gift to the Baptist Health Foundation.
The foundation is a financial-development arm of BHS that assists in implementing new health care programs, acquiring up-to-date technology and providing high-quality health care.
Humphries, who passed away in 2008 at age 88, worked with Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham for most of his 30 years as a practitioner. Throughout his career, he was on numerous medical staff committees at Princeton and served in several leadership roles on the medical staff, including medical staff president in 1970. (BHS)
