‘Be the One’ emphasizes bringing Christ’s message to students

Local nonprofit School Ministries of Birmingham will have a special guest for its second annual spring banquet April 20.

Drayton Nabers — former chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court and current director of Samford University’s Francis Marlin Mann Center for Ethics and Leadership in Birmingham — will be the keynote speaker for the 6 p.m. banquet at Metropolitan Church of God, Birmingham.

School Ministries of Birmingham is a ministry that allows students to take Bible courses for school credit during normal school hours.

With the theme “Be the One,” this year’s banquet emphasizes the importance of each individual supporter of the ministry in bringing Christ’s message to public school students.

“Today, perhaps more than ever before, our youth need to be given an understanding of biblical truth,” Nabers said. “This is the work of School Ministries of Birmingham, which I heartily applaud.”
