Gregory Clarke, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, Birmingham, for nearly 40 years, has announced his plans to retire Dec. 31. During his tenure, he has been instrumental in starting a community food pantry, a senior citizens’ recreation center, independent living apartments for seniors, a prison ministry and a weekly television broadcast for the homebound. He and his wife, Regina, have four children and eight grandchildren.
