Because of Bethlehem

Max Lucado. Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 2016. 198 pp. (Hardback).

Because of Bethlehem” is pure Lucado — bright imagery and short, sometimes staccato sentences that pack a punch and are filled with hope and inspiration. While Lucado can be counted on to stay true to the Bible, there is not a lot of deep theology or exegesis here, but there is the reminder of what we have because of Bethlehem.

Lucado points out early in the book that God has a face, and it is Jesus. “Jesus entered the world not like a human, but as a human,” he writes. “He took on your face in the hope that you would see His.” It gets even better as the book continues (although I’m not sure it gets any better than that), but the best passages are too long to reproduce here.

If you want to be uplifted, inspired and brought right to the throne in time for Christmas, this book will do it for you.
