Maude Bowden has attended Sunday School at First Baptist Church, Hurtsboro, in Russell Baptist Association, every week for 23 years – 1,201 Sundays. Bowden has also served as the church treasurer and clerk for many years.
Q: Why have you attended all these years?
A: Sunday School has always been a very big part of my life. I’ve been teaching since I was about 10 years old.
Q: What led you to begin attending?
A: I accepted Christ at the age of 9, and the next year, Judson Baptist Church, Abbeville, needed a preschool teacher and I began teaching. I’ve taught most of the years since then.
Q: What does the ministry demand?
A: A loving God that gave me good health and a supportive and loving family that encouraged me and filled in when I needed their help.
Q: What do you get from it?
A: I love to study the Bible and I love the fellowship.
Q: How do you see yourself involved in this in the future?
A: Until the Lord says He’s ready to call me home or as long as my health holds out.
Q: What difference will Sunday School make for you in the future?
A: It will continue to supply me with inspiration and knowledge of His Word.
