Brownfield: Malawi

Brownfield: Malawi

Recently Bob was a missionary presenter at the first-ever CESA (Central, Eastern and Southern Africa) Summit. This summit brought together partner and potential partner churches with missionaries from the entire CESA region.

One unexpected result of this summit was more than 25 participants who made commitments to long-term missionary service.

The Malawi version of Woman’s Missionary Union is a very conspicuous group, visiting in hospitals and assisting with associational meetings, funerals, etc.

They wear a bright purple skirt and scarf, along with a white blouse and purple belt, and we missionaries affectionately refer to them as the Purple Patrol.

Women from two churches located an easy walking distance from our home have asked Pam’s help to complete their credentials so that they can qualify to “wear the uniform.”

These women must memorize the seven goals of the group, along with corresponding Scripture passages; memorize the plan of salvation, also with Scripture passages; give their salvation testimony before their local church; attend several months of meetings without an absence; and memorize the women’s work hymn.

Please pray that for all of these women that this program would not be just a list of good works but would lead them into a lifestyle of service to our Lord.
